Lent at Trinity

During Lent, Christians around the world set aside time in preparation for Easter. For 40 days, we have the opportunity to journey into a deeper awareness of our need for Jesus as we resist the forces, appetites, and habits that tend to move us away from God. Lent reminds us that we are called to reflect on our mortality and our need for a Savior. Through engaging in disciplines like self-examination and fasting, we remember not only our sin but Christ’s ultimate victory over sin and death.

Below, you’ll find resources, like our Lent Podcast Primer, Guides, and information about events, like Evening Prayer, that are designed to help you engage the season.

Ash Wednesday

Wednesday, 2/18 · 7am, noon, 7pm

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. It’s the day the Church will gather around the world and be invited into a 40-day preparation for the coming of Easter. Join us on Ash Wednesday at one of our three services—7am, noon, and 7pm—to pray together, hear scripture, and receive ashes.

Registration is not required.

Lent Evening Prayer

Tuesdays: 2/24-3/24 · 7:30-8pm

Join us on Tuesday nights during the Lenten season for a series of evening prayer gatherings—traditionally called Compline—designed to create space to liturgically engage the season through scripture, prayer, and reflection. The ancient "office of Compline" derives its name from a Latin word meaning ‘completion’ (completorium). It is a service of quietness and reflection before resting at the end of the day.

Registration is not required.

Stations of the Cross

Online & In person

For centuries, Christians have meditated on the Stations of the Cross to reflect on the profound mystery of Jesus’ sacrifice. In place of walking the Via Dolorosa (Latin for “Sorrowful Way”) in Jerusalem, we can journey with Jesus to the cross through fourteen biblical scenes depicting the events leading to Easter morning. The Stations offer a powerful way to pray and contemplate God’s self-giving love.

Maundy Thursday Dinner

Thursday, 4/2 · 6:30-8:30pm

Join us on Maundy Thursday for an experiential evening and dinner. We will dive into how the symbolic foods of Passover picture God’s redemption and how Jesus is beautifully foreshadowed in the Passover story and celebration. We will journey from the story of the Exodus to Jesus' last Passover (Last Supper) with his disciples. Learning how Jesus celebrated this feast will bring new insights into his identity as the Jewish Messiah, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world

Contemplative Saturday

Good Friday Service

Friday, 4/3 · 7-8pm

Join us for our Good Friday service as we remember the self-giving, sacrificial love of God shown to us on the cross. We'll gather together for a solemn time of prayer and scripture readings as a way to enter into the events that lead to Easter morning.

Registration is not required.

Easter Vigil

Holy Saturday Night

For centuries, Christians have kept vigil through prayer and worship during the hours leading up to Easter morning. Whether it is read at night on Holy Saturday or just before sunrise on Easter morning, this adaptation of the Great Vigil of Easter is meant to serve as a guide as we mark the end of our Lenten journey and celebrate the beginning of an even greater Easter feast. We encourage you to gather friends and family and follow the guide together.
